Imagine being accused of a heinous crime such as rape even though your alleged victim is now dead.

As such, you have no way of conclusively clearing your name even though the alleged “victim’s” allegations have already been investigated by the police and dismissed with no charges being laid.

Further imagine that you are a prominent politician on the “wrong” side of politics – at least according to the left-wing hacks in the media – and so you are targeted by a biased national broadcaster in what is clearly an ideological crusade by woke lefties against someone they despise.

You also face financial ruin having to defend yourself against what you believe are defamatory statements. Then even after you force the ABC to apologise and essentially admit their guilt, the ABC and its journalists continue to perpetuate their fantasies.

Finally, after having accepted another Ministerial position on the facts coming to light, you correctly accept a generous donation from anonymous people to help clear your substantial legal debts, debts that have been solely created by this farce.

However, because your opponents are evil, they then have the temerity to suggest that you rather than they are in the wrong and you are ultimately forced to resign yet again from the Ministry!

Welcome to the nightmare that Christian Porter has had to endure over the past year.

The whole thing has clearly been an orchestrated attack on a Liberal party politician by the usual suspects in the media and elsewhere.

In a civilized country, that the ABC was involved should have resulted in the journalist in question being fired and the ABC’s funding being removed.

Ditto for the likes of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Peter FitzSimmons, who clearly didn’t learn anything from his expensive private school education as he doesn’t believe in the presumption of innocence.

As for Australian of the Year Grace Tame, who should know something about right and wrong after how she was treated as a minor, she also needs to learn a few fundamental things about western civilization. I suggest she begin with learning about the long-fought for principle that even one’s ideological enemies are entitled to be treated as innocent unless – and until – proven guilty.

Finally, to the “controversy” over the perceived conflict of interest regarding the blind trust that helped pay Porter’s legal bills. Unless Porter is aware of the people who donated – and again, he is innocent until proven guilty on this subject – by definition he cant have a conflict of interest, or even a perceived conflict, because he isn’t aware of the interests that are supposedly being conflicted!

I do have one criticism of Porter, however, and that it is he should have immediately gone on the offence when this farce began. He seems to have naively believed the left would adhere to societal norms such as the presumption of innocence, not realizing that they are getting more feral by the day and so don’t care about due process or the facts, but rather only in destroying their ideological enemies.

I would have turned the tables on the media, demanding they adhere to due process and report the truth rather than making inaccurate conclusions, and then sued any journalist and media organization that didn’t.

In any case, hopefully Porter can recover from this disgrace and continue to serve in the Liberal Party.
